Be a part of something good.

Good friends supporting our new business venture
One day, my husband came home and said, “We should open a frozen yogurt shop.” I said, “What? Seriously, how would we have time for that?” And nine months later, with the help of our partner, we are full-on into Smart Cow Yogurt Bar; thinking, strategizing, planning, buying, selling and enjoying every minute of it. The best part? We’re building a business that makes it fun to be a part of something good.
Click on our “Why We Give” tab and you’ll see what we’re all about. Of course, in order to be successful at regularly supporting schools, we had to provide a product that people wanted to buy. We get all kinds of positive comments on the taste of our yogurt and the fun, inviting atmosphere of our shop. Exactly what we needed to get people coming in, and coming back…the formula that allows us to give back…$10,000 to date.
Ask me what I’d say the best part of it all is, and I’d say it’s the opportunity to meet so many people who are also on a mission to do something good. People like Jonna and Kelly who have shared their insight on the state of education in our district; the folks who work tirelessly to save Outdoor Lab; our friendly, upbeat, helpful employees who receive compliments daily; the high schoolers from Standley Lake who sat around the chalk table one day and asked if I wanted to “join their circle of love,” (I said “Sure!” and they added my name to their big chalk heart); Chris and Jack from Ramblin’ Jackson who believe in our mission so much they’re willing to go the extra mile to help us succeed; and the thousands of friendly folks who have walked through our doors again and again, making this whole plan of ours work.
This new venture has taught me that when you find yourself getting down about the economy, or the state of education, or just the daily grind, it helps to stop and think for a second of all the people you already know who are here to do good. There are lots.
