We dedicate this latest blog to pricing…how did we arrive at our price per ounce? And how does it compare to other yogurt or ice cream shops? By using our free loyalty program, your price per ounce is reduced by four cents: you spend $30, we give you eight free ounces, and that essentially brings the price per ounce down by four cents every time you visit. This fun rewards program brings our price to less than, or right in line with, local competitors’ prices.

But the value of a dollar means more at Smart Cow. The cornerstone of our business is our commitment to local schools. We regularly donate part of an entire day’s sales to a neighborhood school, because when we started Smart Cow, we were determined to do good things. Our three locations, two of them very new, have already donated over $36,000 to local schools in a year and a half. This financial commitment also factors a bit into our pricing, and we hope that customers appreciate the value it brings to our community.  We don’t know of any other small business (or yogurt shop) that donates as much or as often to support local schools, and we’re happy to be making a difference.

Then of course, in setting our price we also have to consider factors like rent, our standards for our unique interior, and choosing a dairy that produces a premium product, which is different than what many other area shops serve.
