On May 16, 2011, Smart Cow made its first donation to help support local education. We wrote a check for $523 to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. One year and two new stores later, through our Grassroots Tuesdays program, we’ve written 52 checks to dozens of schools in Arvada, Colorado; Castle Rock, Colorado and Green Bay, WIsconsin. We’re proud to say that, because of the enthusiastic support of people who love eating Smart Cow yogurt, we’ve now topped $20,500 in donations to our neighborhood schools.
Schools have used our donations in so many wonderful ways: to help fund an 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.; to put towards new playground equipment, to purchase books on peace and conflict studies; to add document cameras, clickers and notebooks to the Technology Department; to help with after-prom activities; to provide teacher training; to support a Senior Scholarship program.
One fundraising volunteer parent told us that because of our donation, her school’s PTA would be able to write a check to the school to help cover expenses for learning opportunities; something their PTA hadn’t been able to do in several years.
We will admit, we’re feeling proud. And we couldn’t have done it without you. Keep eating, and we’ll keep giving!
